dyi: what do I do with this?

Have you ever been at a garage sale and thought that rocking chair would be cool if it wasn’t for the hideous fabric, and how would I change that? Or hey that bag of basket grass is really sparkly but I don’t know what to do with it. That happens to me all the time. (Not the basket grass so much) I call this step one: drive away, turn around, drive back and buy the object of curiosity. Step two: put object in garage and contemplate it’s future. Step two can last a long time (much to my husbands horror). Then after a while, if the inspiration hasn’t hit yet on what to do with this object but you still like it, then do step three (it’s a short step program): hit the DYI resources! On my computer, I have bookmarked some really cool sites that are a wealth of information. These are my go-to websites for fun, inspiration and for saving my marriage (not really). diyideas.com: this site is also a magazine called “do it yourself” to peruse if you don’t have internet access (in a plane on the runway before take-off is the only thing that comes to mind). This site is just fun. thenateshow.com: one of Oprah’s favorite guys. His site has tips on everything from refinishing kitchen cabinets to how to take pictures that won’t make you look fat. I love his philosophy that a a home should be comfortable, individual and thoughtful.
