We have some new notepads on Finestationery.com that we are excited to show you. Did you get a chance to go to Surtex in New York? Our agent Jewel Branding, was there representing us and said it was a great show with lots of meetings set up. She is also going to the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas in two weeks. If you plan on being there stop by Booth #A50 and say hi! We’ve been really busy the last couple of weeks getting new collections designed in time for Surtex in May. Surtex is a big licensing show in New York that we attend with our agent every year. It is next door to the Stationery Show also a fun and inspiring show to walk. A couple of weeks after that our agent goes to Licensing Expo in Las Vegas. Both shows are a great place for manufacturers to see the S+K brand and to also set up any meetings with manufacturers. Plus it always inspiring for us to see so many amazing artists in one place. Right now we are working on new home decor collections. We designed this collection, Floral Abundance, specifically for home decor. We thought it would be great on fabric and bedding. I can even picture it as a beautiful rug. What do you think? We have some new collections specifically aimed at tweens that I will showcase next. Our new collection, Multi-Modern Monograms is now available on Frecklebox.com. We got a lot of requests for a design that could be used with monograms and that could also be for both kids and adults. We thought this was a great collection for tweens and it also makes the perfect gift for your child’s teacher. We combined super hot colors and the always popular chevron in a design that is sure to please. What do you think? Next up for us in May, is the Stationery Show and Surtex where our agent has a booth and shows our design collections. We are working on a bunch of new stuff for that. We are hoping to have some new kitchen patterns, a home decor catalog and some coastal collections done by then. It’s always busy getting ready for shows. Over the last couple of months we’ve been pulling double duty here at Simon+Kabuki. On the one hand we’ve been designing and finalizing new collections to showcase at SURTEX. This year S+K does not have a booth but our agent will be there with a large booth and lots of meetings set up for us. And on the other hand we have been designing a booth and all marketing materials for StationeryHQ, a printer, that will be at the National Stationery Show next door. We love designing stationery and have been at it for quite some time, we were one of the original designers on TinyPrints. So it was fun to design notecards, notebooks, and other goodies for StationeryHQ. They are introducing several new processes to designers like Letterpress Lite and fun new die cuts. We had a blast in New York City but it certainly was not because we had awesome cab rides and even better dinner service. We had a blast because there is so much to do and see in New York city. I thought it would be appropriate to give some thoughtful advice to New Yorkers since it is a tourist capital, all though it does not seem to matter – people still flock there! When I get in a cab a simple hello would be nice, extra bonus points for some great tourist tips. Instead for the most part we got the ride from hell, I think every cab driver’s butt was on fire and they were looking for the nearest watering hole to put it out. And if you are a pedestrian and it says walk watch your ass ’cause they do not care. They will honk as they plow into you though. Maybe it is because they are all rushing to get to the “Gentlemen’s Club” that is advertised on every single taxi in NY. Dinner service was just slightly better with one exception but that was because our waiter had just moved to NY from California, no fair! Please just check on me once to refill my water glass. At a Starbucks across from our hotel, we packed in like sardines to get our morning mojo. No hello, thank you or please from these ladies. When I asked for my spinach feta wrap to be cut in half she said no and moved on to the next customer. Yikes! I know it takes a little bit...

Meet our resident animal collections: Nerdiebumps, Cuddlebumps & Meeniebumps. Besides being cute and easy to get along with, they are a study of color and personality (everyone must multitask in this economy). I love how color and small details can change the feel and energy of these critters. Don’t be afraid, the Meeniebumps are just mad about the price of gas.
