New Simon+Kabuki Back to School Props

New Simon+Kabuki Back to School Props

Summer came and went so quickly, I barely had time to do anything! I think I need to keep a list of summer to do’s like I do for everything else, then maybe I’d do more of the fun things I say I want to do every year. I didn’t really go to the beach or take much of a vacation, just a few long weekends. I always loved taking pics of my kids for the first day of school. I’d do videos also if they cooperated 🙂 Now that they are older I sure do miss those days (I don’t miss all of the paperwork, homework and driving constantly). Check out our Back to School photo props for your little cuties along with the rest of our art prints, thank you notes and mugs in our Etsy...

Back to School with S+K

For my kids it’s the dreaded last week before school starts back up again. That means we have to try to cram a million things into one week that we’ve wanted to do all summer. I don’t know how it goes so fast! We have a beach boardwalk day planned, the movies, a birthday to celebrate and probably some last minute shopping. I always try to get all of their school supplies before school starts so at least that’s out of the way. I know I will need to go out the first week anyway because there will be some oddball item on a teacher’s list that I didn’t get! To help with your sanity and also to make your kid a superstar at school, why not shop online for personalized school supplies? We have a great selection of school products at Frecklebox.com, everything from binders to lunch boxes all in coordinating patterns. The hardest part for you will be getting your little cutie to pick their favorite. To see all of our patterns click on the Frecklebox link above or to go to these designs specifically, Rainbow Chevron, Cutie Birds and Floral...

Simon+Kabuki Back to School Concepts

A few weeks ago I showed you a little peek at our new Back to School concepts. Today I thought I’d show you the whole set of a couple of our designs. The concepts have not been picked up yet, we are waiting to hear back. It’s been a busy couple of months around here. We also recently signed on with a new stationery site and will be debuting a new line soon! We also have holiday cards launching on Frecklebox.com this...

Back to School and Back to Lunch

http://youtu.be/-7aIf1YnbbU&w=475&h=385 I’m sure most of the country is back to school now that Labor Day is over. We start really early here in the Bay Area, August 13th! So my kids have been in school now for almost a month. It took some adjusting – getting up at 6:30am, making lunches, getting homework done and clothes sorted for school. Have you ever seen the movie The Jerk? Do you remember how excited Steve Martin was about getting the new phone book? That is how my kids act on Tuesdays, which are grocery shopping days around our house. They text me from school to remind me to buy things and ask if I’ve gone yet. When they get home they rush into the kitchen like it’s Christmas Day so excited to see what I’ve bought. You’d think they live in a third world country and never eat! My kids tend to walk around at school lunch to visit with their various friends, so having a good portable/walking lunch is the way to go. Here are some easy lunch ideas that my kids love: 1. pre-made salad bowls, tortilla roll ups with either meat or peanut butter, banana and honey, pumpkin muffins, sausage muffins/quiche, apples with peanut butter, frozen peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (sometimes I make a weeks worth and throw them in the freezer). What about you, any great ideas to share? If you haven’t yet finished back to school supply shopping don’t forget to check out our fun collections on Frecklebox.com. Here’s a new collection we designed for tweens, the Prep....

S+K Back to School

Today was the first day back to school for my kiddies and they were not happy. This summer flew by and I feel like we did nothing. It does make me envy home schooled kids! I am hoping to go to Disneyland during our October break so that is something to look forward to! I hope you got to see our back to school products on Good Morning America, if not check out our Monday post for the video. While cleaning our office out, I ran across our very first licensed school supplies. Aren’t they fun?! I actually love the Rockin’ Princess set but unfortunately it did not get picked up yet. Maybe it will, I think it’s really cute. These were sold in stores like Staples and Office Max. There were binders, folders, notebooks and pencil cases. I love the pencil...

Back to School with Simon+Kabuki

I must admit that I love when my kids are on summer break and totally dread the first day of school. The summer flies by and there is never enough time to do everything we want to plus work and take care of house duties! I always say we’ll hit the beach once a week or go to the park or hike but something always gets in the way. We have gone to beautiful Lake Tahoe and Santa Cruz and we are going to San Luis Obispo for a weekend soccer tournament so we have been doing some things, I just wish summer was longer! We also have to start stocking up on school supplies. Every teacher gives their list and we all head off to Target or the office supply store. I love getting them some fun and funky school supplies to start their year on the right track. We designed several Back to School Collections. Here are a couple of new ones. Check Frecklebox.com for sales on back to school and the rest of our collections. Too Cool for School Collection can be found here and The Prep collection can be found here....

what's new wednesday – sneak peak

We are almost done with Holiday cards here at Simon+Kabuki. Just doing some last minute additions to fill in some holes on some of the sites that carry our line. One thing that we’ve learned with licensing our artwork is that it is a very long process. Not at all like our corporate graphic design business, EandI Design. Those clients want everything yesterday and we’ve been trained to respond just like Pavlov’s dog. With licensing, we can work on a design in September and not hear whether it’s been chosen until the following May and then it may not hit stores until October or November! But when it does hit the stores we are like kids in a candy shop. It is so exciting and gratifying to see your stuff out there in the public eye. And it is a lot more fun to tell your kids, friends, family, etc. that you can pick up one of our notebooks at Target as opposed to say picking up our latest semi-conductor data sheet, snooze! We are currently working on home office products for a very large manufacturer. They are really great to work with and we can’t wait to see our stuff in the big box stores next year. Staples, Office Max and Office depot will be carrying the new line. I am including a sneak peak of some of the patterns that we are working on. Of course as soon as they hit the stores you will be the first to know.   Congratulations to Anna Driver-Bishop. She was the winner of our Baby Shower kit...
